An energetic exploration of shame

Reader, August has arrived and the Organ Realm Energy Archaeology sessions are underway!

These sessions support each individual person's Organ Realm in ways that it needed, but they're also supporting a deeper understanding of how this Realm functions, and what interrupts it. They're already teaching me so much that I just can't learn without the context of other humans.

The first few sessions have illuminated the role of shame in the Organ Realm, and helped me clarify that this is the Realm where shame finds an opening in our somatic energy, even though it can move outward from here to disrupt or interrupt the energy in the other Realms.

Let's explore what shame looks like in your somatic energy.

Have you ever seen pictures of an oil spill? Or washed a greasy pan in a sink of water that's not quite soapy enough? Next thing you know you're merely smearing around grease and not actually cleaning anything?

That's what it looks like when shame is present in our Organ Realm. But instead of oil and water not mixing, it's emotions and shame.

I'm not here to dispute Brene Brown and all of the shame research she's done, but energetically, shame doesn't look like other emotions in the body. So I don't count it as one. Instead, I tend to take the view taught by David Bedrick. Shame is a witness. Whether it's a witness to an external event or an internal feeling doesn't matter, but it is important to tease apart how we experience the emotion associated with the event or feeling and the shame that witnessed it.

Maybe you saw something that made you feel confused, sad, lonely, or fearful (all emotions), and instead of doing something, you froze. Shame is the witness to that event and those emotions, and now accompanies them in your body.

Maybe you were a super ebullient joyful kid and someone whispered harshly "we don't behave that way here!" Shame is now the witness to feelings of joy in "inappropriate" places.

You feel shame as an emotion because energetically it couples with your emotions. But shame itself isn't an emotion.

The reason I'm so adamant about this is because emotions are totally different energetic beings. They're discrete and whole unto themselves. Think of humans as being in a symbiotic relationship with emotions. Emotions require the unique frequency of our organs to manifest and move from the quantum into a felt sense and then back to the quantum. Our organs require the frequency of emotions as a catalyst for the internal chemistry in our body.

Our organs don't manufacture emotions, and emotions aren't just some weird by-product of our chemical brain. Without getting too far down the rabbit hole, each organ attracts a specific emotion because of its frequency. This frequency is a product of the unique combinations and layers of tissues that make up that organ. Because of this, each organ vibrates at a specific frequency, and has receptors that vibrate at that same unique frequency to receive the quantum manifestation of the emotion. This occurs simultaneous to receptors in the cells of the organ binding with an amino acid, or ligand. The energetic and the chemical are in lock-step.

These emotions look like little tiny bubbles. Separate and discrete beings that are traveling from the organ and along the nervous system and/or brain until they have completed their role, then they cease to exist as quickly as they manifested.

Shame disrupts the process.

When an emotion manifests in your body and is witnessed by shame, that oily film energy attaches itself to the emotion and surrounds it. Now the emotion can't complete its role and stays "stuck" in your body. It may remain in the organ where it manifested or move along the nervous system to couple with other emotions. What I notice is that it tends to form pockets. The energy of shame wants to aggregate together and become stronger, and it does this by attracting other shame-covered emotions.

Through this mobility, shame can move from the Organ Realm to every other Realm in your body and disrupt all of them.

I ended a client session this week by releasing a sort of "exoskeleton" or energetic casing that had been separating each of the Realms. I didn't think anything of it, but then they asked "could that protection have been the Realms separating themselves so they didn't take on the shame from the Organ Realm?" and I immediately got full-body chills. I could see how their Realms had intelligently created a protective mechanism to isolate themselves from the virulent nature of shame. Once the energy of shame was released, the Realms could come back into conversation with one another.

In the Organ Realm sessions, instead of going one-by-one through the body, what I've found to be extremely effective is to release the energy of shame all at once, and bring a loving and validating witness to the emotions as they are then freed up to complete their role.

I have a few more openings for Organ Realm Energy Archaeology sessions. If this peek into shame and the Organ Realm resonated, I'd love to work with you. You can book your session here.

P.S. I have another email in the works for you about why shame insinuates itself at the Organ Realm, and what we can learn about ecosystem complexities and the energy of shame.

Welcome to a place for embodied processing. Here, I share is personal stories and the energetics of what is going on behind what we feel in our bodies. There's humor, love, holding, frankness, and inquiry for when you need it as you journey through life in a body you weren’t given a manual for…until now. If Miss Frizzle and her school bus could see the spiritual nature of your body, that would be me!
