Our story today opens with a view of the collective body that looks a bit grotesque. A humanoid-amphibian is in front of me, mostly looking like an overgrown frog, but with human-like skin, eyes, and spine. As I've shared before, the way a body appears to me indicates what's happening or what I'm seeing as much as studying the bones or the organs themselves. This being is showing itself as kin that metamorphoses. It's not giving us the usual caterpillar to butterfly imagery or myth, but instead, the tadpole to frog. And here we are met by the adult. The belly of this being is moving; there are protrusions and things sliding along the inside of its skin in the abdominal cavity that remind me of pregnancy, of feeling and seeing the shape of a foot as a baby presses into the walls of its space. So not only the adult form, but the adult form that is preparing to birth the juvenile again. Repetition, but not replication. As the frog-being opens its mouth, all sorts of beings climb from within. I see a snail, a small rabbit, a ball of moss, a slime mold, a butterfly emerges from the roof of the frogs mouth, peeling itself off of the upper palate. And then, as if bringing those lives into this plane was its only purpose, the frog-being grows thin, frail, papery, and begins to sink into the ground beneath it. It returns to dust, even its bones breaking down to become nothing. There is no sign the frog ever existed except for the lives of those beings that came from it. This appears to be the conclusion of what the collective body wants to show me today, and I see myself start to plead with the vision. Show me more, what else is there for us today? What does it mean? Clawing at the sandy soil to see what else may emerge from underneath. But there is nothing. Simply a white rabbit with a butterfly on its nose. A ball of moss rolling beside a snail as they set out on an epic journey, and a slime mold trying to move efficiently on the sand. Beings, whole unto themselves, that stand alone from what created them. Yours, Ash |
